Lana Furdell

A Montana native, Lana Furdell has been participating in church music since her toddler years in Sunday School. She has sung with Delphian Choir, Montana Chorale and Great Falls Symphonic Choir among others. Her music education includes piano training from an early age, organ lessons in college, and excelling as a music major at the University of Great Falls, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BA in 1975. She later earned a Masters of Arts in Liberal Studies.

Lana has worked as a music teacher at Montana School for the Deaf and Blind and at UGF, where she also served as Director of Auxiliary Services. She has taught and coached vocal, keyboard and guitar students privately, and adjudicated at music festivals. Lana has performed music director duties with several denominations before her sojourn with Incarnation  which began in 1981. Since working here she has directed children’s and adult choirs, formed and directed a handbell choir and worked with folk and contemporary groups. She especially enjoys programming and performing holiday extravaganzas and bringing in special guest musicians. She considers her mission here as threefold: one of enhancing worship through the spiritual impact of music, of building and utilizing the talents of musicians within the church and the community, and of including and growing the participation of the congregation in worship and social settings.

Lana is the mother of three talented daughters and two stepsons, and grandmother of eight, several of whom are musicians. She is married to Dr. William Furdell who often contributes his musical talents on woodwinds and vocals. Both Furdells are retired from higher education positions at the University of Great Falls.
